REIP Inside Real Estate – 6 September 2023 - Real Estate Industry Partners

The annual RiSE Conference has been THE real estate conference for mental health and wellness since 2019.

Last week more than 600 agents gathered in Melbourne for the event. The purpose was to spend a day not talking about business, or GCI, or prospecting or listings, it was to talk about how we can thrive in our environments.

With an impressive round up of speakers, my top takeaways from this year’s event included:

Courage: It takes courage to be emotionally connected in a world that tells us to harden the @#$% up and the greatest gift we can give our kids so that it is ok to show emotion and not say sorry. We don’t apologise when we laugh! Give yourself permission to feel the emotions.

People Centricity: Consumers now have new priorities. So how do we keep up and exceed their expectations? By keeping the customer at the centre of your business. How are we also prioritising the wellbeing of our property managers and ensuring that the technology is providing us with solutions to enable our PM’s to become relationship managers.

Mindset: To have a Gold Medal Mindset start with energy, have a plan, make sure you can adapt, know what mindset you require to be the best, visualise what you want and what it feels like.

Language: The words we choose determines our narrative. “You are in the sh*t and glory of life until you are not” -Thomas Keneally

Environment: Moving towards a working environment that supports our people and enables them to be their best is not something that we can shift away from

Leadership: Have an open heart and a curious mind, take what you need and leave the rest, leadership is how you show up and guide people

Behaviours: Our beliefs equal our behaviours. We are not what happens to us but we decide as a result.

Authenticity: When you try to be someone else you will move away from who you are

Resilience: Rock bottom is a trampoline and almost every problem can be solved. You heal by going towards the pain

Lead by Example: Leaders need to role model wellness!

Diversity: Our differences is the reason we evolve and integrity requires truthfulness. If something isn’t talked about injustice can flourish

Self Care: Work on yourself, your mindset, your soul. Who you want to be is MESSY!
